    Visitors Encouraged to Donate New Toys, Books and Wrapping Supplies to Bring Joy and Hope to Local Families This Season 

    Now through December 15th, One Colorado, an unforgettable shopping and dining destination in the heart of Old Pasadena, invites the community to spread holiday cheer by participating in a toy drive to support Union Station Homeless Services. Guests are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys and books for children of all ages – from infants to teens up to 18 years old. To help families add an extra touch of holiday magic, wrapping paper and gift bag donations are also welcome. All items can be dropped off during regular business hours in the collection barrel located near Santa’s station in The Courtyard. Every contribution helps bring joy and hope to local families in need this holiday season.

    Capture the Magic with Santa Photos: A Holiday Tradition Like No Other

    Friday, November 28 - Sunday, December 21 with a special Christmas Eve visit on Wednesday, December 24

    One Colorado, an unforgettable shopping and dining destination in the heart of Old Pasadena, invites children and their families to share their wish lists and take keepsake photos with Santa as he sits on his green velvet couch in front of a brand-new festive holiday backdrop flanked by beautiful Christmas trees. Santa will be available in The Courtyard each weekend from November 28th through December 21st. Professional photo packages begin at $30; guests are also invited to take their own photos for $25. All professional photos include a full digital gallery.

    No RSVP needed. Photos are first-come, first-served, with pricing details and hours listed below.

    Members and nonmembers of the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly Street, are invited to free events and activities for anyone 50 and older. The center is a vital community resource where older adults can age in place while thriving in motion. Residency in Pasadena is not required to attend events and activities.

    Guided Tours of Pasadena Senior Center – Mondays, Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, at noon and Thursdays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18, at 10 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Take a guided tour with a PSC ambassador and learn how the center can enhance your life. Peek in on various activities at the center, such as an art class, dance lessons, computer lab and dozens more, and learn everything else about this first- ever accredited senior center in California.     Legal Consultations – Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Learn about wills and trusts, conservatorships, durable powers of attorney and estate planning. To schedule a required appointment, call (626) 795-4331

    Senior Scam Stopper Program – Thursday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. via Zoom and onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, Presented by Contractors State Licensing Board and The Assistance League of Pasadena. The seminar educates older adults on how to prevent construction fraud and home-improvement scams. The presentation will provide tips and resources on what to know before hiring a contractor and how to be an informed consumer. Registration is required for this online event.     Holiday Blues – Thursday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by L.A. Department of Mental Health. Holidays can be a challenging time for older adults who have suffered losses or who are feeling alone and without family or social support. This seasonal presentation discusses strategies to combat feelings of sadness or “the blues” during the holidays. Registration is required for this online lecture.     Monthly Food Bank Distribution — Friday, Dec. 5, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Pasadena Senior Center. Low-income adults 60 and older receive one free box of food and couples receive two. Preregistration for the program with proof of income and California ID are required for first-time recipients; the Food Bank is currently not accepting new enrollments. Seniors not currently enrolled in the program will be put on a waiting list and informed of other available food sources. Opening boxes on the premises is prohibited.     Movie Matinees – Fridays, Dec. 5, 12, and 19, at 1 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Each PSC member who registers may bring one nonmember guest. Dec. 5: “The Intouchables” (2011, R) starring Frocois Cluze and Omar Sy. An unlikely friendship develops between a wealthy quadriplegic and his caretaker, just released from prison. Dec. 12: “The Sure Thing” (1985, PG-13) starring John Cusack and Daphne Zuiga. A college freshman embarks on a cross country road trip for a woman on the West Coast, with a girl who once rejected him as his travel companion. Dec. 19: “A Date with Judy" (1943, G) starring Wallace Beery and Jane Powell. A musical romantic comedy about two best friends who are also co-conspirators and romantic rivals vying for the same man.

    Contents Workshop for Eaton Fire Survivors – Saturday, Dec. 6 from noon to 3 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, Presented by United Policyholders.  At this hands-on workshop will help you with your contents insurance claim and home inventory. The goal is to help you make progress, reduce stress, save time, and empower participants to make informed decisions as they work towards financial recovery. The workshop will cover California claim regulations and laws, strategies for preparing your inventory, pricing, and valuing your items, where to find help when things get overwhelming, and the next steps from here.

    Film Screening: Too Good to Be Forgotten – Sunday, Dec. 7, onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, Presented by filmmaker CAPT Andy Bystrom, U.S. Navy (retired). In remembrance of Pearl Harbor, this film honors and recognizes WWII Patrol Crafts and her sailors, known as The Forgotten Fleet. While serving on two Patrol Craft in the Pacific, U.S. Naval Officer John Bystrom filmed the largest and most extensive collections of home silent film footage and photographs of World War II. This fast-paced Navy folk art documentary is a real-life WWII live action film that is “Too Good to be Forgotten.” All Aboard! The screening will be followed by a Q & A with the film’s director, CAPT Andy Bystrom, U.S. Navy (retired). Registrations requested.     Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy – Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to Noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. The Center for Health Care Rights provides free Medicare and Medi-Cal counseling and advocacy services. Appointments are required and can be made by visiting the Welcome Desk.

    Caregiving in the Holidays – Thursday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by L.A. Department of Mental Health. Memory loss that disrupts daily life may be a symptom of Alzheimer's or another dementia. Alzheimer's is a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. There are 10 warning signs and symptoms. If you notice any of them, don't ignore them. We will explain and explore each one. Registration is required for this online event.     Navigating Difficult Family Conversations and Challenges –Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, Presented by Foundation for Senior Services. 

    Family dynamics can be complex and emotionally charged. This guide offers compassionate communication techniques to foster understanding, reduce conflict, and support family healing. Please note: this class and discussion are specifically focused on those affected by the Eaton Wildfire.     Mediation and Dispute Resolution – Thursday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Learn how to resolve conflicts with the help of a trained mediator, including property ownership, landlord/tenant disputes, workplace/employment issues, family disagreements and more.     Health Fair and Fresh Produce Distribution – Friday, Dec. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center.  Kathy Eastwood from Huntington Hospital will be doing blood pressure and glucose testing. The Hear Center will be doing free hearing screenings. Insurance representatives will be on hand to show different Medicare Health Plans, and answer questions that you may have. Preassembled bags of fresh, nutritious vegetables will be distributed on the patio while supplies last, courtesy of Order of Malta Mobile Ministries. Everyone is encouraged to bring a bag or personal pull-behind cart to transport the produce home. Registration is not required. For more information call (626) 795-4331.

    Acknowledging Loss Discussion Support Group and Program Series: Healing Begins when We Honor What is Gone — 1st Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, 2nd Wednesday of the month at 12 p.m. via Zoom, Presented in Partnership with Foundation for Senior Services. Loss isn’t just about what’s missing—it’s about what mattered. In a culture that rushes to “move on,” we often bypass the most essential parts of true healing and personal growth—to actively engage in the full range of our emotions and begin to honor the experience of grief and loss. This is not about fixing or forgetting—it’s about integrating memories in a way that brings peace, meaning, and wholeness to our lives. Join these discussion groups to share experiences and receive support from others in a compassionate, safe, and confidential space as we work through the healing journey.     Bilingual Tech Help Program – Mondays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center, with Bilingual Instructor Mariana Porras.  Learn how to navigate social media platforms, send texts, check voice mails, set alarms, and more. Whether you need assistance with your smartphone, tablet, or computer, this is a valuable chance to get those questions about your device answered. Let us help you make the most of your devices and explore the possibilities of the digital world.

    Lunch Program – Ongoing weekdays at 11:30 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. If you are 60 or older, enjoy a hot lunch every Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration begins at 11 a.m. A donation of $3 is suggested but not required. For more information, call (626) 685-6742.

    Home Tea Program – Ongoing monthly. Anyone 50 and older can sign up to receive tea and an inspirational card once a month. To participate in this program, call (626) 685-6732.

    Food Pantry – Ongoing weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Don’t let financial hardship, being homebound or other issues prevent you from eating healthy food. Pasadena Senior Center volunteers deliver food and other supplies to your door. To request delivery, call (626) 685-6732 and leave a message. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.

    Children and families can let their creativity shine at the Ornament Crafting Workshop on Saturday, December 6, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at The Unicorn Store. Guests will have the opportunity to design and decorate Christmas tree ornaments using colorful paints, glitter and holiday embellishments. The Unicorn Store, known for its whimsical collection of gifts, toys and magical surprises, provides a playful setting that inspires imagination and festive fun.     Holiday Wreath Workshop
    Get into the holiday spirit at One Colorado’s Holiday Wreath Workshop on Friday, December 12, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Twigzz, a local floral and botanical design studio. Participants will craft seasonal wreaths using lush greenery, with expert guidance from the store’s owner Dean. Tickets are $50 per wreath and include all materials plus a glass of wine (21+ only) and cheese to enjoy while making a personalized masterpiece. Space is limited and reservations are available on Eventbrite: $50 per Wreath

    Kick off the 2025 Holiday Season at Castle Green! The wonder of Pasadena's golden era awaits you as the Castle celebrates the holidays!

    Built in 1898, the Castle was designed by architect Frederick I. Roehrig with Moorish, Spanish and Victorian influences, and has turn of the century glamour and charm. Today, the Castle has become one of the most cherished historic buildings in Pasadena and remains a majestic centrepiece of the city.

    General Admission: Includes access to the entire ground floor, 20+ residential condominiums, Penthouse, and our iconic Bridge of our magnificent building. We will be hosting the holiday party of the season on the ground floor with fantastic entertainment and refreshments. A GA ticket will include:

    • There will be a self-guided tour available (of the entire building).
    • Live piano performance
    • Photo booth
    • Lawn games (weather permitting)
    • Bite-sized holiday snacks and refreshments (as supplies last).

    Gates open at 11:00 am - you can arrive at your convenience through 3:00 pm. Tickets will be available on the day of at the gate at $70.00 each (Subject to availability and capacity).
