Selah Gospel Choir Presents: WE OUTSIDE!

Returning to live performing, Selah Gospel Choir brings their diverse and non-denominational mix to share an evening of singing at the beloved Band Shell in Memorial Park on Saturday, May 28, from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Attendees will be seated on the grass area, you are encouraged to bring a blanket, and note that there will be no sales of food, drink, or merchandise of any kind.

Selah Gospel Choir has participated in many events including their last pre-pandemic concert in January 2020, singing with the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra for their Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration! Other events include Forest Lawn's Easter Sunrise Services; RuPaul's Drag Con, Celebrate Sundance Institute's Tribute to Roger Ebert; EDM DJ Tchami's guest at Coachella; musical guest for the Celebrating David Bowie! event at Wiltern Theater; the featured musical guests of U2 and Lynzy Lab on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show; "I Rise!" concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall, invited as a guest of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles to participate in a musical exploration of the complicated relationship between the LGBTQ and Faith Communities. Selah Gospel Choir was also seen on Season 5 of Lip Sync Battle, hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen, providing backup for special guest, Mariah Carey!

Selah Gospel Choir is not directly connected to any religious organization, yet the religious/spiritual makeup of their singers is broad and inclusive. Their singers are diverse across the identities of race, age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and ability - and there is no audition requirement to join. It is core to their culture that all who enter the community are welcomed and shown respect AND welcome and show respect to others. Circling around central values such as love, intersectionality, and community, SGC demonstrates these values as they sing for a purpose greater than themselves. This vibrant and challenging ensemble strives to remain authentic to the traditional and contemporary forms of gospel music.
