Bike Month Pasadena 2022...  See the city in a whole new way!

Rediscover the joy and excitement of riding a bike! Leave the car at home and see the City of Pasadena on two wheels during Bike Month Pasadena, May 11 - 29. A joint effort between the City and community partners Day One and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition, this fun annual event returns after a two year hiatus to celebrate bicycling as a safe and sustainable way to get around town.

Organizers have planned free activities all month for riders of all ages and abilities. Helmets, bikes in good working order, and bike lights (for night events) are strongly encouraged. Highlights of Bike Month events include:

Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 19 from 6:00 to 9:30 am
Leave the car at home and schedule in a pit stop at City Hall for snacks and socializing. Metro buses, trains, Metrolink trains, Foothill Transit buses, and Pasadena Transit buses are free to bicyclists on Bike to Work Day.

Handlebar Happy Hour on Thursday, May 19 from 5:30 – 7:30pm
Celebrate Bike to Work Day at Dog Haus, where they will be discussing the state of biking in Pasadena! What's working? What's not? How can you get involved? Staff from Pasadena's Department of Transportation will be on hand to hear your ideas, and current and potential future City Council Members will be invited! Free tater tots while supplies last! All other food and all beverages will be “buy your own.” Bike racks outside on Big Bang Theory Way. Bring a lock!  Please RSVP at this link.

Ride of Silence on Saturday, May 21 – Ride starts promptly at 11:00 am
Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ride of Silence. No RSVP is required. Black armbands are optional.

Bike-in Movie Night on Saturday, May 21 - Doors open at 7:00 pm - Film starts at 8:15 pm
Who doesn’t like watching a movie under the stars? Day One will host a bike-in movie night on the lawn at their Pasadena office. Pack a picnic dinner or snacks, a blanket to sit on, and ride your bike to the screening. They will be screening “Together We Cycle,” a 2020 documentary about the history of bicycling in the Netherlands. Amsterdam is considered one of the world’s meccas for bicycling, but it wasn’t always that way.  A short discussion about the film and bicycling will follow the screening. Bike parking inside our enclosed yard.  Don’t forget bike lights for the ride home.  RSVP

Public Art Tour on Sunday, May 22 - Meet at 9:30 am - Roll at 10:00 am
Enjoy a 10-mile guided tour of public art installations all over the City! Participants will ride to multiple public art installations in Pasadena and learn about each installation.  Ride will take approximately 2 hours. NO RSVP required.

Bike Brunch Picnic Adventure on Saturday May 28 - Meet at 10:00 am, Roll at 10:30 am
To coincide with the Grand Re-opening of La Pintoresca Park and the 26th Annual Family Fun Day, pack yourself a picnic, get on your bike, and join in for a leisurely ride that will end at “La Pin,” where you can eat and enjoy the celebration being hosted by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. Ride distance will be approximately 5 miles. Ride Pace will be easy, relatively flat terrain with a few small hills. Please ensure your bike is in good working condition. Bring at least one spare tube that fits your tires. Water and sunscreen recommended. Helmets encouraged and required for riders under 18. More info

Bike Repair Workshop on Saturday, May 28 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm    
Day One, Active SGV, and the La Pintoresca Teen Education Center will host a special bike repair workshop at Teen Center as part of the Grand Re-opening of La Pintoresca Park and the 26th Annual Family Fun Day to kick off the summer. Participants can learn how to repair their own bikes and help repair bikes for donation to the community.​

Ice Cream Ride on Sunday, May 29 Meet at 1:00 PM, Roll at 1:30 PM
It’s a good time to end Bike Month with dessert and you’re invited. Participants will ride to multiple ice cream vendors in Pasadena to sample their ice cream. Ride distance will be approximately 10 miles, easy pace, mostly flat with some small hills. Please ensure your bike is in good working condition. Bring at least one spare tube that fits your tires. Water and sunscreen recommended. Helmets encouraged and required for riders under 18.  RSVP

Day One and partners Pasadena CSC are Pasadena based community organizations working towards advocating for safe, inclusive, and healthy streets for all road users, regardless of mode and ability.
