National Latino Heritage Month kicks off on September 15, the eve of Mexican Independence, and continues until October 15. There are so many ways to join in the celebration including dining on delicious cuisine, exploring Latino-owned businesses, and learning more about the rich Hispanic history of Pasadena!

Latino Heritage Celebrations

Join the City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Latino Heritage Committee for Pasadena’s 24th annual Latino Heritage Celebrations. This year’s celebrations feature a month of FREE, family-friendly outdoor events.

Fiestas Patrias
FRI SEP 16, 5-9 pm - Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street

The Grand Fiesta is back! Join Parks, Recreation and Community Services in commemorating the independence of 18 Latin American countries. This lively family celebration will feature the Parade of Flags, crowning of the queen and court by City Officials, and children's activities. Food will be available for purchase.

Latino Heritage Parade and Festival
SAT OCT 01 - 10 am - 4 pm - Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street

Join local schools, community groups, elected officials, dignitaries, neighbors, and friends at the 24th Annual Latino Heritage Parade and Festival. This event is sponsored by the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Latino Heritage Committee.

Chocolate Skull Making
SAT OCT 08 - 2-5 pm - Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) sugar skull craft. Participants will follow step-by-step instructions to create a fun and unique chocolate calavera. All supplies will be provided and registration is required. Register now at cityofpasadena.net/reserve.

Paint and Aguas Frescas
SAT OCT 08 - 2-5 pm - Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street

Join us for Paint and Aguas Frescas! Participants will have the opportunity to create their very own painting while enjoying a tasty cantarito of agua fresca! Art kits and aguas will be provided and registration is required. Participants will paint under the instruction of an experienced artist. Register now at cityofpasadena.net/reserve.

Movie Night (Vivo) 
FRI OCT 14 - 7 pm – Tournament of Roses Association Grounds, 391 S. Orange Grove Blvd.

Bring your blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie “Vivo”. Register now at cityofpasadena.net/reserve.

Dia de los Muertos   
FRI OCT 28 - 5-9 pm - Villa Parke, 363 E. Villa Street

Join friends and neighbors at Villa Parke Community Center to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is teaming up with Armory Center for the Arts and Pasadena Community Job Center to commemorate the century-old holiday with dance performances; arts & crafts; food available for purchase; and “ofrendas,” altars honoring the lives of the deceased.
