Monday, June 07, 2010 to Monday, September 06, 2010 Presented by: Armory Center for the Arts & One Colorado Artist in Residence: Christina Pierson "Solar Catch" The Armory Center for the Arts & One Colorado present the summer installation of their Artist in Residence, Christina Pierson. Viewing times are as follow: Tues + Wed: 12-4pm Thurs: 2-4pm Fri: 12-8pm Sat: 2-8pm and by appt. Pierson’s project, entitled Solar Catch, will transform The Artist Studio into a magical environment through the creation of several “light interventions,” made from photographs printed on light reflecting and magnifying materials to turn seemingly insignificant beams of light into sparkling wonders. This installation will harness the suns rays, track and magnify its movements during daylight and use stored sunlight (through the use of solar cells) to light the installation at night. Solar Catch invites visitors to not only witness the changes in the installation as the sun traverses the studio, but to be photographed and become part of the installation. At the end of each three month residency, the public will be able to experience the completed work at a closing reception. Closing Reception: Saturday, August 28 from 6:00-10:00pm The exhibition is accessible from both the Fair Oaks Avenue and Smith Alley entrances.
