Members and nonmembers of the Pasadena Senior Center, 85 E. Holly Street, are invited to free events and activities for anyone 50 and older. The center is a vital community resource where older adults can age in place while thriving in motion. Residency in Pasadena is not required to attend events and activities.

Guided Tours of Pasadena Senior Center – Mondays, June 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 at noon and Thursdays, June 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 10 a.m. onsite at PSC. Take a guided tour with a PSC ambassador and learn how the center can enhance your life. History of the LGBT Community – Thursday, June 5 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by Pallas Care. Learn more about the history of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities. We will discuss important events, victories, setbacks of the last century as well as significant figures in the Southern California LGBT rights movement. Monthly Food Bank Distribution — Friday, June 6, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at Pasadena Senior Center. Low-income adults 60 and older receive one free box of food and couples receive two. Each box includes foods that meet specific nutritional needs, such as cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, dry milk and related dairy products, cereals and other grain products, and more. Proof of income and California ID are required for first-time recipients. Boxes are heavy, so bring a pull-behind personal cart to the parking lot between the Pasadena Senior Center and the Metro Gold Line station. Opening boxes on the premises is prohibited. Movie Matinees – Fridays, June 6, 13, 20, and 27, at 1 p.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Each PSC member who registers may bring one nonmember guest.
- June 6: “The Times of Harvey Milk” (1984, NR) starring Harvey Milk and Anne Kronenberg. A film that documents the story of Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first gay Supervisor.
- June 13: “Sounder” (1972, G) Starring Cicely Tyson and Paul Winfield. A family of poor black sharecroppers struggles with economic hardships in the Depression-plagued South.
- June 20: “500 Days of Summer” (2009, PG-13) Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. A greeting-card writer and hopeless romantic reflects on his 500 days with ex-girlfriend Summer, who suddenly dumped him.
- June 27: “The Insult” (2017, R) Starring Adel Karam and Kamel El Basha. After an emotional exchange between a Lebanese Christian and a Palestinian refugee escalates, the men end up in a court case that gets national attention.

Emotion in Motion: Exploring Abstract Expressionism – Saturdays, June 7 to 28 at 10 a.m., Presented by Pasadena High School Seniors. Seniors will engage participants in a brief history of Abstract Expressionism, the techniques and ideas behind the works. The course will progress from history to design and finally to practical workshops where participants will be able to make their very own abstract expressionist inspired works. The class is designed for any level of experience in art history and art making. We strongly encourage participants to attend the full program. Registration is required. Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy – Tuesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to Noon. The Center for Health Care Rights provides free Medicare and Medi-Cal counseling and advocacy services. Appointments are required and can be made by visiting the Welcome Desk.
Breathe Easier – Wednesday, June 11 at 10 a.m., Presented by Breathe Southern California. This program offers adults essential lung health and wellness information. Topics provided: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Lung Cancer, Adult Asthma, and Sleep Apnea. We will focus on lung cancer prevention, the importance of screenings, how to reduce the risks, how to recognize symptoms, and the resources available. Registration is required. The Art of Conscious Living – Thursday, June 12 at 10 a.m. via Zoom, Presented by Foundation for Senior Services. We will explore strategies for thriving in the 3rd act of your life. Health Fair and Fresh Produce Distribution – Friday, June 20, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Kathy Eastwood from Huntington Hospital will be doing blood pressure and glucose testing. The Hear Center will be doing free hearing screenings. Insurance representatives will be on hand to show different Medicare Health Plans, and answer questions that you may have. Preassembled bags of fresh, nutritious vegetables will be distributed on the patio while supplies last, courtesy of Order of Malta Mobile Ministries. Estate Planning Essentials – Thursday, June 26 at 10 a.m. via Zoom and in Person, Presented by Foundation for Senior Services. We will explore the essential gaps in estate planning that many families fail to address (or, to continue to carefully keep an eye on!). We will provide information to help individuals and businesses keep their stress at bay by discussing ways to achieve solid preparation and prepare for life's major transitions. Mediation and Dispute Resolution – Thursday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to noon onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. Learn how to resolve conflicts with the help of a trained mediator, including property ownership, landlord/tenant disputes, workplace/employment issues, family disagreements and more. Lunch Program – Ongoing weekdays at 11:00 a.m. onsite at Pasadena Senior Center. If you are 60 or older, enjoy a hot lunch every Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-served basis. Home Tea Program – Ongoing monthly. Anyone 50 and older can sign up to receive tea and an inspirational card once a month. To participate in this program, call (626) 685-6732.
Food Pantry – Ongoing weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Don’t let financial hardship, being homebound or other issues prevent you from eating healthy food. Pasadena Senior Center volunteers deliver food and other supplies to your door. To request delivery, call (626) 685-6732 and leave a message. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.
